The second installment in our epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.
Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.
Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.
Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.
Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.
The stunning second novel in the Starbound trilogy is an unforgettable story of love and forgiveness in a world torn apart by war.
Want to get a taste of an upcoming title without a full review or spoilers? We’re here to do that for you! It’s not a real review, and there are definitely no spoilers – just a bunch of reasons to read or not read or pass on this title.
Reasons to Read:
How I feel about this book:
It’s a totally different story to These Broken Stars
These Broken Stars wasn’t your jazz? Can’t stand walking books and survival stories? Good. That’s not what This Shattered World is all about. It’s rebels against military. Skirmishes and fire fights.
Captain Lee Chase is going to kick your ass
I love her. I have a total girl crush on her.
Shit Gets Real
There are a few moments that you will probably be like, “Faaaaaaaaarrrrrk!”
Reasons to Pass
Okay, that’s not necessarily true…
I had issues with the ending and the sense that it made and the way it was done. Issues I can’t speak of without spoiling. I guess you’ll just have to read and see for yourself!
Summary:
This was a pretty damn good book. Probably a better book than These Broken Stars.

I liked the survival aspect of These Broken Stars, but the ending still confuses me. I think I’m going to like this one better! It seems like all the endings are a bit weird though; we’ll see what happens when I read it.

Dammit, Kat. Now I have to go read this one. I pushed it way back on the reading list, because the first one was not, indeed, my cup of tea (3 stars here). Now you have me all jazzed for this installment.

This sounds absolutely perfect! I actually never finished These Broken Stars because I just wasn’t that into it. But now I really want to finish it just so that I can read this. Thank you for sharing! 😀
