Ever looked around at your massive abundance of quality literature and thought it would look great all hacked up and it’s skinned hide used for visual effect? Ever looked at that mass of pages, the result of many hours of an author’s loving labour, and had the desire to rip them out and discard them? Well, I have good news for you, I’m here to show you how to murder any book and turn it into a shell of it’s former self.

Etsy is full of decorations made out of books and their pages and how-to sites are filling up with cheap and easy ways to destroy the original purpose of books in order to get copy a popular fad.

Watch my video below for tips on how to make a book purse, a book clock and a sneaky cover for your router, all with only a few easy steps!

Craft time with Kat is so fun. I like that no books were harmed during the making of these imaginary objects.

If you watch the video, the whole point is that you shouldn’t chop up books for craft.ni promise no books were harmed in the making of this video.

Indeed…I just keep looking at the picture at the top and feel sad for those books missing their pages and dressed in flowered print fabric. I had no clue books were being abused in this manner on Etsy.

I was HORRIFIED, you totally had me going! I was squeamish watching this, but after the Bronte I KNEW no books would be harmed in the making of this video *praise baby jesus*
Brilliant video, I laughed so much. Bravo!!!

Thank you for doing this. Those Etsy crafts and crap on Pinterest are HORRIFYING. I understand doing this with cheap paperbacks but why would you destroy a lovely cover like those? They belong On. The. BOOK.

    😀

For a moment there I thought you were actually going to cut them up. I’m so relieved you didn’t! And your cat is so adorbs!

That was brilliant! I love that books are for reading not for decorating and don’t murder a book. But the last line was the best about how books don’t have feelings but they can give them.

As cute as book decorations are every time I think of making something I think the exact same thing – how could I pick a book to destroy to make a decoration!? I’d rather buy hollow books and then do something with them.
