My Little Book Shelf Part 3

Now is the hard part of the project. To organise through all those books and find a nice home for them all. IMG_2494

They are exactly what I wanted. Neat. Organised. Pretty. At least to me they are.

So let me take you on a shelf by shelf tour!

My favourite hardbacks shelf:

With the way I organised them, you can see the covers of some of my favourite books/covers and I managed to fit all but two of the books back onto the shelf, so this turned out to be more economical with space than I first thought it would be.

Next to organise was my ARCs shelf. This was the hardest and the shelf I’m least happy with because I never managed to totally get it colour co-ordinated. I’ve never been a very visual person and I’m not very good with colours and colour matching so this was really the best I could do. However, I’m happy because they at least look more organised and surprisingly, I saved space somehow. I even go more excited to read some of the ARCs there after discovering them again!

Now for my hardback classics’ shelf. This one was super easy to organise and surprisingly economical on book space.

Next, welcome to my penguin shelf! Yes they have a whole shelf. I am just as amazed as you are.

The next two shelves are more paperback classics and assorted graphic novels.

Now, you may have noticed gaps in my bookshelf. Suspicious gaps. Noticeable gaps. There is a part four to the My Little Bookshelf project. Because I’m not finished yet. The shelves have been organised and the last step is to decorate them. I can’t wait to show you what I have planned for that!

Your shelves are looking gorgeous, Kat! Way more organized than they were before. 🙂 I also displayed the covers of some of my favorite books! Stormdancer’s also that way in my shelf. 😉 (Confession: I haven’t read it yet, but it’s GORGEOUS and Jay’s hilarious on Twitter.)

I know what you mean about color coding too! Especially if a spine has two colors in it–where the heck does it go? ._.

Exactly! I didn’t know where to put a lot of books and I ended up just getting confused and frustrated.

Thank you for the compliment. It took a lot of work but I’m so glad I did it.

*Gasps* You haven’t read Stormdancer?! Get on that missy!

I really like how you showcase your favourite hardcovers! It looks really cool 🙂 My shelves are just done alphabetically by author and then I have a separate place for my ARCs that I need to read. Can’t wait to see it decorated!

I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed this post. Your shelves look great! Total Bookshelf porn. I’m inspired to sexy-up my bookshelves now.

    They look gorgeous, congrats!

However, this post made me realize I shouldn’t do this. I keep staring at pretty covers and daydreaming. My bookshelf is divided in three parts (spines only so it’s not too distracting!):
    1) Gonna read again soon,
    2) Good stuff & To be read,
    3) Why the f* did I buy this!? / Never again

I often think about giving them up to some second hand store, but part of me feels I should give them personally to someone who likes books.

Also, now that I think about it, I gotta have contingency books to be sacrificed when my brother asks me to borrow one (aka: gonna lose it in a few weeks).

Your shelves look great! I never tire of seeing pictures of people’s bookshelves. Organizing them is such a good reminder of what books you actually own. (This seems to be a common problem for bloggers…I wouldn’t know, haha.) I look forward to seeing your final decorating touches. 🙂

That display looks great, Kat! I have a tiny little shelf, so it’s really easy to assort it all by color. The thing is, there’s just double stacking. XD But I loved arranging it as a rainbow, and I can’t wait what else you’re going to put up!
