The Daily Life of a Book Blogger

13 February, 2015 Musing Musers, Random 25 comments

Wake up and check comments on blog before getting out of bed. Priorities, folks.

Someone messages you on twitter saying they can’t comment on your blog. Meltdown completely.

Try to eat some breakfast while you trouble shoot solutions.

Go to work.

Write blog posts while at work because nobody really cares.

Check your social media while at work because, what the hell.

Oh oh, there’s drama on Twitter. Tell everyone you’re sick of drama and signing off twitter for a couple of days.

Ha! Just kidding. Retweet all the things.

Get home and check mail.

No ARCs have arrived. Eat your feelings.

Then eat dinner as well.

Read the next book on your TBR list. It’s not really a list anymore. It has gained sentience and is now hunting you down to demand your attention.

Your site crashes. Use multiple swear words and head to twitter to see if anyone else can access your site.

Throw all the things before site magically starts working again.

Check your stats. Wonder why you do this shit.

Participate in a twitter chat to promote an upcoming book.

Stay up way too late because your favourite author replied to your tweet and now you can’t sleep.

Do it all again the next day.

I love this! I think the last gif is my favorite-that is me every time an author I love responds to me!

  2. Kyra

When an author tweets me, I do exactly the same thing as that little girl haha! And yep, this post is very accurate – my day consists of a lot of these things!

That description of TBR Monster is disturbingly accurate: ” It has gained sentience and is now hunting you down to demand your attention.” It taunts me that I will never be fast enough to catch up…

  4. Jade @ Bedtime Bookworm

This is pretty accurate!! Except for the part about writing blog posts at work – I can’t get away with that. But checking my social media… I definitely do that! And I do check and comment on blogs either from my bed or right after getting up LOL. It drives my fiancé crazy.

Yes. This. All of this. Ha!

My TBR pile is extremely sentient. I hear it crawling around my room at night.

  6. Katherine

Haha, this is all really true! I have so many of these thoughts every day…especially the one about checking stats/comments and seeing an author replying to you on Twitter. I was trying to explain the excitement to one of my non-reader friends and she just didn’t get why an author response was such a huge deal!

  7. Mawa Mahima

This is extremely accurate. Those stats make or break my day, most of the time. 😛 (And to be honest I’m not even half-kidding).

I legitimately think I would go insane if Melina Marchetta or J.K. Rowling tweeted at me. It would involve:

    – foaming at the mouth.
    – calling the hospital to ask them to pick up my body

    and if I survive that:

    – alcohol and lots of it
    – a mental institution.

Can I say that I am so guilty of 50% of this list??

“Read the next book on your TBR list. It’s not really a list anymore. It has gained sentience and is now hunting you down to demand your attention.”

    *craughing*

“Just kidding, retweet all the things!” is so true! Made me giggle to hear someone else say it!
