Guys, I’m so thrilled to have Sara Raasch on the blog today because she’s revealing an excerpt from ICE LIKE FIRE, sequel to SNOW LIKE ASHES, that includes a brand new POV. But there’s more! Today, the cover for ICE LIKE FIRE was just revealed on Epic Reads. So if you haven’t already, go check it out because it is stunning!
(Your face when you see the cover.)
The SNOW LIKE ASHES trilogy is very much Meira’s story, but you may have noticed a rather Mather-centric paragraph in the summary for ICE LIKE FIRE. With any fantasy, the more the story progresses, the bigger the world grows. I knew Meira’s POV alone wouldn’t be able to contain all of the events in ICE LIKE FIRE, which is why I’ve brought in Mather as an equally important and super fun new POV character!
Why Mather, you may ask? (And if you’re #TeamTheron, you may be WAILING that question.) When I started exploring additional POV characters, Mather leapt out at me for one simple reason: his side of the story needed to be told. At the end of SNOW LIKE ASHES, his world is just as shaken as Meira’s, and the events throughout that book made him question everything on which he’d built his life. ICE LIKE FIRE is mainly Meira’s tale as it was in SNOW LIKE ASHES, but Mather’s view helps open up the world in new (and oftentimes painful *insert evil author cackle*) ways.
To give you a taste of Mather’s POV, I’m so excited to share with you an excerpt from the end of his first chapter in ICE LIKE FIRE! (Obvious spoiler warning if you haven’t read SNOW LIKE ASHES.) It takes place in Jannuari, Winter’s capital, at the close of a training session to build up a new Winterian army.
(And if you’re #TeamTheron, don’t worry — there’s even more of the Cordellan prince in ICE LIKE FIRE than there was in SNOW LIKE ASHES! I promise.)
