Format: select

We here at Cuddlebuggery are excited to help reveal Jay Kristoff’s US cover for his debut novel, Stormdancer, to you all!  Aside from this incredibly awesome cover, there is also one giveaway hosted on our blog.  At the end of the post is an opportunity to enter a second Giveaway!  If you missed it, check out our interview with Jay Kristoff here.

A DYING LAND
The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, land choked with toxic pollution, wildlife ravaged by mass extinctions.

AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST
The hunters of Shima’s imperial court are charged by their Shōgun to capture a thunder tiger – a legendary beast, half-eagle, half-tiger. But any fool knows thunder tigers have been extinct for more than a century, and the price of failing the Shōgun is death.

A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL
Yukiko is a child of the Fox clan, possessed of a hidden gift that would see her executed by the Lotus Guild. Accompanying her father on the Shōgun’s hunt, she finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in Shima’s last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled thunder tiger for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.

But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.

Stormdancer will be released on September 18th, 2012 through Thomas Dunne books/St Martin’s Press and Tor UK September 13th, 2012.

Cuddlebuggery Synopsis:
Kyoko has known ever since she can remember that she would inherit her family’s flower shop. That day suddenly comes sooner than expected when her grandmother dies, leaving her to run the family business alone. Stricken with grief, Kyoko throws herself into her work, vowing to be the best damn flower arranger the world has ever seen. But one day her shop is attacked by hooded ninjas and they manage to steal all of the red lotuses. Enraged, Kyoko grabs her magical katana and dons her warrior outfit. No one messes with her flowers and lives to tell the tale. No one. Will she succeed or be forced to choose an alternative career path as a cat lady instead?

a.      A complete tosser for making me drag my butt around nine blogs on his stupid quiz

b.      Mildly amusing for a guy with such obvious birth defects

c.      My dark prophet, and yea, unto him do I pledge my life for this night, and all the nights to come

[author] [author_image timthumb=’on’]http://cuddlebuggery.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Jay-Kristoff.jpg[/author_image] [author_info]Jay Kristoff grew up in the most isolated capital city on earth and fled at his earliest convenience, although he’s been known to trek back for weddings of the particularly nice and funerals of the particularly wealthy. He spent most of his formative years locked in his bedroom with piles of books, or gathered around dimly-lit tables rolling polyhedral dice. Being the holder of an Arts degree, he has no education to speak of. Jay’s debut novel, STORMDANCER, a Japanese-inspired steampunk fantasy, will be published by St Martin’s Press/Tor UK in September 2012 as the first installment of THE LOTUS WAR trilogy. Jay is 6’7 and has approximately 13870 days to live. He abides in Melbourne with his secret agent kung-fu assassin wife, and the world’s laziest Jack Russell. He does not believe in happy endings.

I’m so glad for the reveal on your blog! I have spent the last two hours going from one blog post to the next reading so much interesting news and reviews! I am a definite fan of your blog and realize that this a** kissing in no way affects my chances of winning the ARC of STORMDANCER which I am actually dying to read! But I have found your site so interesting that I went to it first and now must back track to the other eight sites to enter the Uber drawing on Kristoff’s site. No matter! Maybe I’ll discover some other sites I’ll find interesting. I was just so happy the big reveal was not on TSS.

In a battle of the Cuddlebuggery Synopsis of Stormdancer vs. Jay Kristoff the man himself, it’s difficult for me to decide the winner. Clearly somebody else needs to judge this face-off for me.

That is definitely a very lovely cover. I’m still slightly weary of a book set in Japan, with Japanese characters, written by someone who isn’t Japanese, but we’ll see. Lord knows I can’t turn down Japanese steampunk.
