Today marks the publication date of one of my favorite books of 2012 that I’ve read so far, Wanderlove. I fell in love with the setting, characters and beautiful artwork. I hope you’ll check it out soon! This passage from WANDERLOVE is extra special, because it’s the text we chose for the back of the book. As with my last book, LIKE MANDARIN, I chose several evocative passages that carried the theme of the book, and I shared them with friends and my blog audience. In the case of both books, the one I secretly loved the most was also the one my readers went for. I should trust my judgment!

As teens (heck, even now), we often dream up these projected images of ourselves — the people we want to be. They’re usually draped in romance, colored by things like Tumblr feeds, music videos and Jeep commercials; not entirely realistic, but that doesn’t stop us from longing to BE that girl. WANDERLOVE is about Bria’s journey finding her real self in that fantasy — the bad along with the good, but also the truly transcendent.

I LOVED that passage - it's so true how we protect ourselves by switching off from being emotionally involved. I can't wait to read about the heroine, and I LOVE how Kirsten is an animal lover!! I loved her photos from the sloth sanctuary and she's a genius artist as well:)
