That moment when you get to have one of your favorite authors grace your blog… yeah, that’s right NOW. I’m super excited to welcome Carrie Ryan to Cuddlebuggery as part of the Daughter of Deep Silence blog tour! Most of you may know her from The Forest of Hands and Teeth series, AKA the series that haunted my dreams. But she’s back with a new YA novel and it’s pretty awesome. I read the book last month and it was everything I wanted in a revenge thriller and more. FANTASTIC heroine. If you don’t have it on your TBR, FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY because it’s out today! Stay tuned for my review in the next week and hopefully you’ll have read it and we can discuss? Yeah? YES.
So for our stop we got to ask Carrie two very important off-topic questions. Totally appropriate since we here at Cuddlebuggery are all about being silly, off-topic and getting distracted mid sente— oh hey a squirrel!
What’s on your Netflix? What TV shows are you obsessing over? Bonus points if you can incorporate gifs of Bellark in there.
Well, the fact that I had to look up Bellarke to know who that was should give you an idea of the state of my Netflix queue! I’m so far behind on everything! Several years ago I got tired of falling in love with series only to have them cancelled too early (Better off Ted – loved that one so much!! Portia de Rossi was brilliant!)
…or catching up and having to wait each week for the next release (Archer). So my husband and I started going back and watching older series we’d somehow missed. We probably spent a couple of years working our way through Buffy, Angel, Supernatural, Veronica Mars. Seriously, I have no idea where I was that I missed all of those!
Right now I’m making my way through Castle, which I love because hello, Nathan Fillion.
I’m also always amused to see author characters in TV shows and movies. If only! (though this part about deadlines is totally spot on:)
I’ve also been in a Glee kick with a dose of Bletchly Circle thrown in (which I got into thanks to Rachel Hawkins and watching Benedict Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game). Speaking of Benedict Cumberbatch: Sherlock. I haven’t finished them all yet because I can’t bear to be done with them!
Bizarrely I have a ton of survival documentaries in my queue as well – it’s what I like to watch when I’m doing stuff like signing bookplates or tip-in sheets. I find those shows fascinating! Which is why I know I’ll totally love The 100 and yep, it’s totally in my queue. I’m just letting it get a solid cache of episodes before diving in – lol. You want to know something embarrassing? In 2010 my husband and I received three DVDs of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We still have them sitting in our living room. Really, that should pretty much tell you the state of our Netflix queue.
So…uh… I guess I should get back to my afternoon of…
And there goes your afternoon. Meg and I are so pleased that we could introduce your life to Bellark. Welcome to the dark side. Go forth with the obsession.
Ninjas vs. Pirates? We have an ongoing feud on which group is more awesome. Please give one of us sweet validation.
Pirates. No questions asked. But that may be because I’m writing a middle grade series with my husband that’s chock full of them and they’re insanely fun to write!
As a huge advocate of Team Pirate, Kat wins this round… *curses*
Thanks so much for playing along, Carrie!

I’m the daughter of murdered parents.
I’m the friend of a dead girl.
I’m the lover of my enemy.
And I will have my revenge. In the wake of the devastating destruction of the luxury yacht Persephone, just three souls remain to tell its story—and two of them are lying. Only Frances Mace knows the terrifying truth, and she’ll stop at nothing to avenge the murders of everyone she held dear. Even if it means taking down the boy she loves and possibly losing herself in the process.
Sharp and incisive, Daughter of Deep Silence by bestselling author Carrie Ryan is a deliciously smart revenge thriller that examines perceptions of identity, love, and the lengths to which one girl is willing to go when she thinks she has nothing to lose.

I love LOVE Sherlock and Castle. Everyone has been raving about The 100 that I seriously need to jump on to that fandom boat. That was the first time I’ve heard of Bellarke but I looked it up and it sounds good. Thank you for the giveaway!
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy
I am the biggest Nathan Fillion fan IN THE WORLD so I highly approve of Carrie watching Castle. And I also highly recommend Torchwood:-)

The 100 is always the first thing I catch up on on my DVR. And I am tired too of falling in love with a new series only for it to be cancelled.

I guess now I know what to watch on Netflix next.

It’s one thing to see one of your favorite authors be a guest poster on one of your favorite blogs. But then to be totally validated in your DVD delay AND your love of pirates by said author? Heaven. Thanks so much!
And Carrie, if you like Nathan Fillion, there’s this new web series called Con Man (they’re filming now, so you’ve got time). 😀

I have to ask, is the ninja-pirate feud a by-product of Naruto vs One Piece? (Also, Team Ninja, duh) 😛
Kaitlyn
I love The 100 and Sherlock! You should also check out Daredevil! The whole first season is on Netflix!
Robyn B.
I love Sherlock and The 100. Bletchly Circle sounds really good. Team Pirate all the way!
