Earlier this month I sent Cuddlebuggery’s special correspondent, my mom, on a mission to attend the Miami Book Festival. The idea was for her to meet one of my favorite authors so I could live vicariously through her. She, being the incredible supportive mom that she is, went and got Laini Taylor to sign books for me! I was so happy she agreed and a bit bummed that Laini wasn’t coming to a city near me. But while my mom was there, I got to talk with Laini on the phone for an awesome 5 seconds. And I totally admit to a bit of fangirl action afterwards. Who wouldn’t? Thanks a bunch, mom and Laini!

Giveaway

Originally, I planned to give away both signed copies of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Days of Blood and Starlight, but these books now have a such cool story behind them and sentimental value. So, I’ve decided to keep the signed copy Daughter of Smoke and Bone (since it is one of my all-time favs) and Kat is kindly offering up her copy. Only Days of Blood and Starlight is signed.

    Firstly, I’m insanely jealous of all of you guys who live in the states/canada/anywhere near laini taylor really. Because she will probably never (not in the near future at least) come to Singapore, which makes me really sad because I absolutely adore her in all her awesome pink hair glory.
     
    I honestly have never ever won any of such giveaways, nor do I have any luck in these but I would very likely give away my firstborn for a signed copy of her books! So after I submit this comment, I’m going to hide in my cave, set up my little Karou/Akiva/Brimstone shrine and pray that I actually win this 😛

    I’ve read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and the best word I can think of for it is “intense”.  Normally I am not a fan of stories without happy endings but this story was so engrossing!  I loved it :).

    I read DoSaB nearly a year ago and loved it, so yeah, I definitely have had a chance to check out the series. 😀 I also read Laini Taylor’s short story in the Foretold Anthology and I absolutely loved that too. I haven’t had a chance to read DoBaS yet but I’m really looking forward to it! I’ve only heard good things.

    Ah, yay! I think Laini Taylor is going to have a shrine built for her somewhere on my bookshelves. I really liked both of the books in this series, but Blood & Starlight was definitely better, for me.
