Outlander Casting News
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Just kidding guys, though lord knows I’m always excited to read about some Outlander news. (men in kilts? count me in!)
The big news is that Outlander has found their Roger Wakefield in the form of Richard Rankin.
We have big news as part of #OutlanderOfferings today. Introducing @RikRankin as Roger Wakefield! pic.twitter.com/M91EIx9Gbr
— Outlander (@Outlander_STARZ) December 14, 2015
Shortly after, Rankin also took to the micro blogging site and wrote, “Hugely excited to be joining the @Outlander_Starz family. An amazing production filled with truly wonderful people and the best fans around!”
Rankin’s casting was warmly received by the cast and crew of the Starz show as “Outlander” author Diana Gabaldon and series stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe welcomed him to the show via Twitter. Fans of the series also expressed their excitement and approval at the casting news, as many thought that he is perfect for the role.
The actor is no stranger to TV roles as he had starring roles in U.K. shows such as “Burnistoun,” “The Crimson Field,” “The Syndicate” and “From Darkness.” He also starred alongside Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in the movie “Burnt,” which was released last October.
I, for one, am VERY interested in seeing RR onscreen, perhaps in only a kilt?? Pretty please? 😀
Everyone is Making A Coloring Book
Throne of Glass Coloring Book
Next September, Bloomsbury will publish theThrone of Glass coloring book based on Sarah J. Maas’ fiercely loved series. This will be the first coloring book published for a YA series.
“The book will bring to life characters, scenes and objects from all of the titles in the series,”Bloomsbury Children’s Books says in its press release.
In typical Maas fashion, she also has a great story to go with it:
“My last semester of college (when I was still toiling over the early drafts of Throne of Glass), I took a plane from New York to LA, and the little girl sitting behind me randomly gifted me a page she’d completed from her coloring book — an illustration of Cinderella. At the time, TOGwas a Cinderella retelling (now it’s only got a few nods to it here and there), and I was wishing and hoping and working my butt off to one day get it published. So, when I got off that plane, I kept the coloring book page she’d given me as some sort of weird sign from the Universe that I was on the right path toward making my dream come true.
“Seven years and six published books later, I still have the page she gave me. So, it’s really, really surreal and a bit full-circle to announce that we’re creating this coloring book, and I’m more excited than I can possibly say. I can’t wait to share the illustrations with all of the readers of these books!”
YAY! Looks like a fun time!
Maximum Ride Coloring Book
Marvel and James Patterson are pleased to announce the most recent expansion to Marvel’s line of Adult Coloring Books with COLOR YOUR OWN JAMES PATTERSON! One of comics’ mightiest team-ups, Marvel Comics and James Patterson, have produced action, excitement, and adventure with “Max Ride” and now all they need is YOU!
Coming in 2016, COLOR YOUR OWN JAMES PATTERSON follows the soaring adventures of the “flock” – Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel – a group of ordinary teenage kids. They are the product of genetic tampering that has given them extraordinary abilities, but their lives quickly morph into a living nightmare as they try to escape their creators and defend themselves from half-human, half-wolf “Erasers”. Along the way Max discovers her purpose – saving the world – but can she?
Taylor Swift’s Book
So I guess Tay Tay’s fans are going to help her write a book or something? It’s hard to understand, but maybe you’ll get it:
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of her first album, the publishing company will create a scrapbook-style anthology that includes published articles, essays, photos, reviews — and possibly even a Taylor Swift-themed crossword puzzle. And fans are being called upon to name the book, create the cover art, and submit their own original T-Swift photos, art, stories, ideas, and more.
A lot of us here just love Taylor and we have meetings all the time and we are in each other’s lives all the time and we just started talking about it … we were all bummed that there is no amazing book about her after 10 years, and we were like, “Let’s just do it.”
Bear in mind that Taylor Swift is not involved in the process at all. Simon & Schuster ran it by her team. So that’s a thing, I guess?
James Patterson Gives Out Lots Of Cash
Every year, Patterson gives out “holiday bonuses” to the independent bookstores and school libraries he deems most worthy. This year’s total is mindblowing, to say the least:
The holiday bonus program is part of $2 million in grants and bonuses that Patterson is giving to independent bookstore employees and school libraries this holiday season.
“These grants and bonuses are my humble acknowledgment of some of the terrific work taking place in libraries and bookstores,” Patterson said. “Here’s to communities supporting their bookstores and libraries. Here’s to a country that makes reading a priority. Here’s to flourishing libraries and booksellers, and to a joyful holiday season!”
Patterson personally sifted through 2,848 nominations to come up with this year’s recipients.
“It continues to be inspiring and motivating to work with James Patterson to support school libraries across the country,” said Judy Newman, president of Scholastic Reading Club, a division of Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company. “Jim’s unwavering, unambiguous commitment to helping children lead better lives rich with books is transformative. Scholastic is thrilled to be working in such an effective partnership.”
Now this is someone who puts his money where his mouth is. See the full list of recipients HERE.

Haha, oh man, that Fantastic Beasts trailer… was probably not the one you were meaning to embed (skip to 23 seconds in). I hadn’t seen the proper trailer though, so it got me!
(If you did mean to embed that one, well then, touche!)
Off to watch the real deal now.
Kate Copeseeley
If there’s an issue with the Fantastic Beasts Trailer we embedded, then I had no idea. I just linked it right from Galley Cat. This wouldn’t be the first time they’ve messed up their videos, though. I guess it’s my bad for not checking this time. 😀
Beth W
It’s not messed up- it’s a fake.
Briana @ Pages Unbound
In retrospect, it’s kind of surprising no one has thought to do a YA coloring book before this! I’m looking forward to it!
Kate Copeseeley
Now I’m waiting for coloring books of all my fave YA books. 🙂 I’d love a Hunger Games one.
Natalie Monroe
I love Taylor Swift, but I wouldn’t buy that book. It’s more of a fan collaboration. I can get that stuff for free on Tumblr. 😛
Kate Copeseeley
I’m with you on that one, Natalie. 🙂
Carina Olsen
YAY for so so many awesome news 😀 Thank you for sharing about it all Kate. <3 Stunning post, as always. AHHHHHH. The 100 trailer 😀 I LOVE IT. But also a bit angry, ugh. Octavia hurting my Bellamy. Not okay. And Clarke sleeping with someone that isn't Bellamy. Not okay. lol. I'm a bit bitter about it, hah 😀 BUT STILL SO EXCITED. Sigh. I don't watch The Outlander, but that is one pretty man, hah 😉
But unsure about those Taylor Swift book news. Ugh. I would be excited, if she were involved with it. But you say she isn't. So yeah. Not excited about it, lol. But I love Taylor the most 🙂
Hope you will all have an aaaamazing Holiday. <3
Carina Olsen
(I had not commented for days. So worried it might not be posted, lol.. but it did, yay :D)
