We are thankful for…

22 November, 2012 Uncategorized 27 comments

We don’t do Thanksgiving here in Australia.  I get asked a lot if we do, but it’s strictly and American Holiday.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t.  I’ve never partaken in Thanksgiving before because, frankly, turkeys freak me out.  So does sharing and generally being around people.  So I sat down to think about how I could possibly celebrate thanksgiving in my own personal way without touching anyone or cooking anything. I thought I might just post about a book or author I’m thankful for today.

But instead, I wanted to say that what I’m really thankful for is you guys.  The readers and commenters that make Cuddlebuggery my favourite place on the net.  I know we’re horrible right now at replying to comments.  When NaNo is over we’ll be back to operational standards.  We’re also working hard on commenting on your blogs and spreading the love.  We know, we suck.  But there are some amazing people who’ve read, commented at and stuck by us no matter how much we’ve sucked!

So here goes:

Kara M who is an awesome friend of ours and always there to cheer us on

Christina from Reader of Fictions  who can almost always be counted on to leave awesome, long comments that have us cracking up! Please accept my desperate kisses as a response to your awesome comments.

Heartless Lyn who has also stuck through with us and put up with us for WAAAAAYYY too long.

Kate C – One of our favourite self-pubbed author who always has great input and a very individualistic opinion to share.  She’s not afraid to say what she thinks and we love her for that.

Sam from Realm of Fiction whose comments make me smile

Animegirlalex who always has something nice to say!

Fangs for Fantasy – oh my god, woman!  You make me laugh every time!

Sazbah – I LURVE YOU SO MUCH!  Also, your reviews rock!

Rachel from Parajunkee – awesome blogger, all-round great person, and someone we’re honored to have comment on our blog.

Anna from Literary Exploration – Can we smoosh our smooshie parts sometime?

AnimeJune – I just want to fangirl over you again and again!

Katiebabs – MARRY ME!

Flannery, Tatiana and Catie from The Readventurer – One of our favourite blogs and three truly awesome bloggers!

Aprilmom00 (Julie) whose opinion we value dearly

Blythe – Love your fangirl reviews! You’re awesome!

Renae M who is so thoughtful in her comments and takes time to give a valuable opinion

Longtime Cuddlebuggery friend Ashleigh Paige whose reviews we love to read.

Lisa FicTalk who rocks in such an awesome way.

Giselle from Xpresso Reads – So fantastic, so much love!

Neyra whose Gravatar makes me blush!

Bonnie13 who is just so sweet to comment here with us.

Our good friend and my arch nemesis on Goodreads: Wendy Darling

Michaela Grey whose comments were getting caught up as spam – glad to finally see them!

Jennifer from the Bawdy Book Blog – so lovely that you often make the effort to visit us and comment!  Thank you!

Cyn123 – we fixed Livefyre!  You can comment again!

ChristinaBooth – when you comment, it’s always with an intelligent, thoughtful opinion!

Mary from Bookswarm – your enthusiasm kills me!  It always brings a smile to my face

Stephanie Parent – Another great self pubbed author who I love chatting with on Twitter

Dragonflyautumn – I hang out for your comments!

VeganYANerds – Thank you so much for your comments!  It’s always lovely to meet up with you!

If you are missing from this list, it’s not because you are unloved or unvalued.  It’s because it’s 11:45pm at night and Kat is tired from writing.  Let us know and we’ll make sure we put you on there where you belong!

We also want to thank Paul, Adrienne and Archer who contribute to Cuddlebuggery and enrich it with their awesome posts!  We couldn’t do it without you guys and we love having you on the team!

So enjoy your turkey and your family and your big, full bellies, Cuddlebugs!

Lots of love,

Kat and Steph

Enjoy the Turkey 🙂 (Unless you’re eating Tofurkey in which case – I’m sorry. I’m so very very sorry).

And if Nano doesn’t consume your life, you’re doing it wrong

  2. Renae M

    Well, thank you!

I’m thankful that you have so many lovely posts for me to comment on in the first place.

  3. Kara_M

And I will continue to cheer you on in all that you do. I love you both dearly. Thank you so much for the love. It means so much to me. Happy Thanksgiving and big hugs to both of you from a person who doesn’t like touching either. 🙂

  4. blythe_harris

Love you both! Thank you so much for the mention, it made my day! I hope you both have an amazing Thanksgiving, even your non-turkey, non-people (because seriously, ew. People suck.) Thanksgiving, Kat! <3

  5. Lisa FicTalk

I don’t like touching or sharing either. I think we were meant to be, Kat. *virtual hugs and smooshes cuz I don’t do that shit in RL* 😀

You guys are so awesome! Much love <3

  6. parajunkee

You guys are awesome too!!!! Xoxo and turkeys are kinda freaky. But they do taste good.

  7. Realm of Fiction

Oh thank you for the mention! Many of those people would make my list too. Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated in the UK either, but I’ve felt like a part of it this year thanks to all the bloggers I talk to. 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving, you two! 🙂

  8. Bookish_Belle

Lovely post! I’m surprised people ask if we celebrate Thanksgiving though, seeing as it’s about the foundation of America and all. Although I guess the Canadians celebrate it too… albeit in a different way on a different day.

  9. AnimeJune

Awwww, thank you!! I am thankful for great blogs like you and great books to read!

  10. Heartless_Lyn

I am going to put away my one-liners and sassy comebacks (I do think very highly of myself) and state that I was honestly touched by your message.  (Okay, I’m crying into my sopapilla cheesecake).
To be thanked by one of my favorite bloggers, when I owe so much to you and many other people on GR, really touches my heart. I really adore you guys.  I admire Kat’s courage and Stephanie can always put a smile on my face by her no-nonsense reviews.  Archer is the loveable teddy bear, and I hope to get to know the new bloggers on the site.

Now back to my regularly scheduled Grumpy Cat attitude.

Happy Thanksgiving! It might not be something we celebrate in Australia but the idea of it is nice, a day to stop and say thanks. And talk about a ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ overload of blog posts. In previous years I might not have really known it was Thanksgiving but this year there was no chance of me missing it. Every other post yesterday in my Google Reader had a turkey so that was kinda kinda hard to miss ;D Lovely post!

Aw, you guys are amazing and a huge inspiration to me. Although, I think it odd that Americans are having thanksgiving so very late – I had mine a few weeks ago, I wish you both the best. Keep up the great work!

  13. MeganBrat

Well, even if I didn’t make the list, I have to say that this is an epic and truly deserving list of thanks! And now I have some ideas for great new people to follow!

  14. Kate C.

You guys made me choke on my breakfast slice of pumpkin pie!  Thanks for the unexpected mention. 🙂

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of this site and greatly appreciate reading the opinions of my favorite reviewers.

  15. Flannery

We are very thankful for you as well! Seriously, you are some of our favorite people:) Happy (fake) Thanksgiving, Kat!

  16. Parasol Dreams

I’m originally from Mexico, so I am not accustomed to celebrating Thanksgiving either! 😉  But it’s definitely tradition!

P.S.  Btw, this is Alejandra, from Musings in Red. I’ve split my old blog into two: an inspirational blog, “Parasol Dreams”, and a book review blog that is just in the makings now! 🙂  I’ve been dying to have a blog officially dedicated to JUST book reviews for quite a while, so I’m quite excited about this! 🙂     And the reason I’m boring you with all this information is that I’m just letting all the blogs I follow know about my new blog name so that they don’t think I’ve abandoned them. Or that I died. Or some other tragical thing like that. 🙂

  17. Michaela Grey

The site thought I…was spamming you guys??  o_O  I am many things, but a spammer I ain’t, I promise!

(Seriously, I was startled and delighted to see my name in the list.  This site is one of my very favorites.  Keep doing what you’re doing!  🙂

  18. aprilmom00

ah you guys are awesome too. Very touched by the mention . Hands cupcakes and fluffy unicorns around to all xoxo

  19. cynicalsapphire

OMG, I am on this list. *does sexy dance, which scares cat, especially when it’s prematurely ended by falling over*

Okay, slightly more seriously, Kara is amazing. I don’t know some of these other people, but I will have to check them out!

I am thankful for Cuddlebuggery, bringing me all the news I ever need to know about the world, always making me laugh, and generally being a collection of the best people in the world.

Oh, and for Steph loaning me books. Everyone in the world really wants to read Orleans, so, if it’s not good, I’m going to have a lot of really disappointed people to deal with. Hopefully it will be awesome, though, unlike some books I could name. *coughs*

  20. Wendy Darling

Kennedy, you’d better watch your back. That’s all I’m saying.

In all seriousness, I am so sorry this comment comes so late! I saw Steph’s tweet and didn’t realize at first there was actually a LOVE LETTER attached to it, and then turkey day activities took over my life. I am touched to be included in your post, among numerous other bloggers that I think are amazing as well.

Over the past year, I’ve come to have so much respect for what you guys do here at Cuddlebuggery, most especially @_KatKennedy and @Cuddlebuggery. It isn’t always easy to be a fair and honest blogger, to keep your sense of humor and decency in the face of incredible negativity, and to stand up for what’s right. But you two have done all of that and earned your following with good reason, and I am one of many who appreciate you for everything that you do. Even when we disagree–hey, did people realize there are occasional waverings in the hive mind?!–I have a great deal of respect for your opinions. I am honored that the regard is mutual. And if I weren’t such a lazy blogger, I’d make more of an effort to tell you so more often.
