NEW WONDER WOMAN TRAILER!!!!!

Alright, I know you all will totally laugh at me, but I had Buzz completely finished and scheduled to be posted but then the NEW WONDER WOMAN TRAILER (sorry I can’t type this without caps) came out and I died and then I had to run here to post it.  BECAUSE OH MY GOD ITS SO GOOD AND I CAN’T WAIT TO WATCH IT AND SEE MY AMAZON QUEEN KICK SOME MAJOR ASS.  My hubs and I both watched it together and he was like, “Well honey, you’ve been hoping for and dreading this movie for years, but I think you can be happy, because they made a really cool Wonder Woman.” And you know what, that is my exact thought.  WONDER WOMAN IS SO AWESOME!!

So here is the trailer(you can watch it 50 gazillion times like I have):

New Trailer for Girl On A Train

This looks CHILLING.  I remember thinking the book was kinda ‘meh’, but this looks really freaky.

I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. 😀

Kyra Sedgwick To Direct Story Of A Girl

800px-KyraSedgwickJune09A new, book based Lifetime Move is on its way to you in 2017, directed by Kyra Sedgwick of The Closer fame. Sara Zarr’s Story of a Girl is the basis of this made for TV film. The project is apparently part of Lifetime’s initiative titled Broad Focus, which wants to provide women with more opportunities to work behind the camera: writing, directing, and producing. So far this year, 30% of Lifetime’s movies and 40% of its scripted series (Unreal!!!!) are women managed, says the network.

A powerful coming-of-age story, the film is about a teen who must deal with the ramifications of a sex video that goes viral. When a sex video of 13-year-old Deanna Lambert and Tommy, her older brother’s best friend, hits the Internet, her life of carefree innocence is changed forever. Three years later, Deanna is still dealing with the fallout of the video, including being branded the school slut and bearing the burden of the daily taunts from her classmates. Her home life is even more troublesome as her father’s anger and disappointment over the incident has left him unable to look her in the eye. Ready to move on, Deanna longs to escape a life defined by the mistakes of her past.

Daveed Diggs To Star In Wonder

Daveed_DiggsMore Wonder casting news! We now know that “Hamilton” star Daveed Diggs will join Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson.

Diggs, who departed the Broadway production of “Hamilton” on Friday, will play an English teacher in the movie. Tremblay is starring as August Pullman, who was born with facial differences that prevented him from going to a mainstream school earlier in life — and then became an unlikely hero when he entered the local fifth grade.

Diggs originated and played the roles of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in “Hamilton.” He  won this year’s Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Diggs is also the vocalist of the hip hop group Clipping. He’s repped by WME and Brookside Artist Management.

GOT S7 Will Get Late Debut

Sansa-Stark-Needs-A-Lot-Of-Booze-On-Game-Of-ThronesWell, it looks like the curse of GRRM has struck the HBO version of Game of Thrones, guys. Next year’s season won’t be starting until waaaaaaaay later than usual. (And as icing on this sad little cake, it will also be a shorter season.)

HBO announced on Monday that the seventh season of the series will be seven episodes long — a departure from the 10-episode schedule of each of the previous six seasons. Additionally, “Game of Thrones” will debut in the summer of 2017, as opposed to its traditional start time in the spring. (Previous seasons had started in March or April.) The network explained a later shooting schedule would help the season’s plot.

“Now that winter has arrived on ‘Game of Thrones,’ executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the story lines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing,” HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys, said in a statement.

The new schedule could present a significant opportunity for HBO’s competitors: If the seventh season begins later than May, it will not be eligible for next year’s Emmy Awards. “Game of Thrones” has garnered the most Emmy nominations of any TV show for three consecutive years, and last year it took home the Emmy for best drama for the first time.

Mr. Benioff and Mr. Weiss had said last month they envisioned two more seasons to close out the series, amounting to about 13 episodes.

The Bell Jar Will Star Dakota Fanning

1280px-Dakota_Fanning_Push_PremiereThis is such interesting news. First of all, I had no idea Kirsten Dunst had interest in directing anything, but apparently she’s slated to make her debut on The Bell Jar. And I can’t believe that Dakota Fanning is old enough to play Esther. Wow, time flies, yeah? Here’s more about the adaption of Slyvia Plath’s 1963 novel:

Dakota Fanning has been set to play the lead role of Esther Greenwood in the pic, which Dunst has co-written with Nellie Kim. The Stanford Prison Experiment producer Priority Pictures optioned remake rights from Studio Canal, and production is eyed to start in first-quarter 2017.

The Bell Jar is set in the 1950s and follows Greenwood, who takes an internship at a magazine in New York City and, after she returns home to Boston, begins to suffer from mental illness. A 1979 movie adaptation of the book was directed by Larry Peerce and starred Marilyn Hassett.

Dunst, just nominated for an Emmy for her work on FX’s Fargo, has directed a pair of short films: Welcome starring Winona Ryder and John Hawkes, which was screened at Sundance; and Bastard starring Brian Geraghty and Lukas Haas which screened at Tribeca and Cannes. Her recent film credits include Jeff Nichols’Midnight Special and she’s next up in Woodstock and Ted Melfi’s Hidden Figures. Dunst is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Amandla Stenberg To Star In Everything, Everything

amandla_sternberg_nick_robinson_split_h_2016_0Good news! That book you loved last year, Everything, Everything, is gonna be a movie! Directed by Stella Meghie via MGM and Alloy, it will star some familiar faces!

Rising actors Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson will star in Everything Everything, MGM and Alloy Entertainment’s adaptation of the YA book by Nicola Yoon.

Stenberg has officially closed his deal while Robinson is in final negotiations, according to insiders.

Yoon’s debut novel follows Maddy, a teen who has severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), a rare disease that causes her to be allergic to practically everything. She has spent 17 years hiding out in her home, only seeing her mother and her nurse, Carla. But when a boy named Olly moves in next door, Maddy begins to fall in love.

Stenberg will play Maddy while Robinson will play Olly, who is battling his own demons.

Stella Meghie, who made her feature directorial debut with Jean of the Joneses, is directing the project, which is eyeing a September start. Les Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton of Alloy are producing.

J. Mills Goodloe, who wrote the script for the Blake Lively starrer Age of Adaline and Fox 2000’s upcoming Idris Elba drama film The Mountains Between Us, wrote the script.

The casting is a coup for Stenberg, who may be best known for playing the character Rue in The Hunger Games. She starred in As You Are, a drama that was awarded the special jury prize at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, and appeared in TV’s Sleepy Hollow as well as co-starred in the NBC comedy Mr. Robinson. She’s attached to star in The Hate U Give, a YA novel inspired by Black Lives Matter, that’s with Fox 2000 and Temple Hill.

I certainly don’t have any objections to Stenberg, but hasn’t Robinson been in like 4 other YA films? I mean, kudos to him for his success, but why can’t we mix it up with some other actors once in a while?

Jason Rothenberg Will Write a The 100 Prequel Novel

murphyscreamsHey look! I snuck in some The 100 news! Turns out during the The 100 press room time at SDCC, JR let slip that he’s going to be writing a prequel that will cover all the stuff we’ve seen during the flashbacks on the show:

“I can tell you that I’m working on a novel. I’m working on [it] with Alloy [Entertainment]. We haven’t picked the writer I’m going to be working on it with yet. Which does go back and tells some of the big story points. [It’s] way closer to the tone of the show. I mean it’s going to be a post-apocalyptic, edgy, awesome book and it will fill in a lot of the blanks that I think people are curious about and I know I am curious about.”

Though Rothenberg didn’t have time to go into any details, the subject came up during a conversation about the use of flashbacks in The 100, in which Rothenberg spoke about the prospect of more flashbacks in Season 4 of The 100. He said it is a possibility, but the flashbacks would have to be done for the right reasons, like the season 1 flashback reveal that it was Abby and not Wells who exposed Clarke’s father or the season 2 flashback that revealed it was Raven and not Finn who took the spacewalk. Rothenberg said:

“I love doing them, but we only do them when it illuminates something about the story in the present … That was the point of those [previous] flashbacks. It wasn’t just to tell a different point of the story.”

I’d read it!

Last Part of Divergent Series Will Air On TV?

DivergentI guess Lionsgate has officially been a victim of “But THEY did it” syndrom with their Divergent series. Every big YA movie series has done it so far, including Twilight, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games: split the last movie into two parts. The problem is, it’s not always a good idea. It seems as though that was the case with the Divergent series. After the abysmal box office earnings, Lionsgate has decided to go a different route with part 2 of the final book.

Negotiations are in the early stages, but instead of having “The Divergent Series: Ascendant” open in theaters next year, the studio wants to wrap up the film series on the small screen, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation. That would then segue into a standalone television series set in the same post-apocalyptic world.

The first two “Divergent” films were box office hits, but the most recent chapter, “Allegiant,” stumbled when it hit theaters last spring. The fourth and final film, “Ascendant,” was originally scheduled to debut in June 2017, when it would have squared off against “World War Z 2” and a reboot of “The Mummy.” The studio initially planned to start shooting this summer in Atlanta, before “Allegiant’s” box office performance caused them to rethink that strategy.

Lionsgate’s television group will handle production. The idea is to finalize the storylines involving the current cast and to introduce a new cast, who would then continue the series on either a traditional or streaming network.

The “Divergent” films focused on a futuristic society where people are broken up into social and personality-related factions. Veronica Roth authored the best-selling series that inspired the movies.

It’s not clear if stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, and others will return for the “Ascendant” television movie. Lee Toland Krieger (“Age of Adaline”) had been tapped to direct the film.

No deals appear to have been made, and sources say that the the studio has yet to pitch the project to networks.

How in the world are they going to handle this one? I mean, put it on Freeform with the likes of Shadowhunter and Pretty Little Liars? SMH I can’t see Shailene Woodley signing on for that one. Not to mention the hot guy who plays Four.

Strange The Dreamer To Push Back Publication

uk-jacket-strange-the-dreamer-hb*sob* If you noticed that the publishing date for Laini Taylor’s Strange The Dreamer has changed, and wondered if George RR Martin got to her, we have an explanation here for you from the author herself:

This story has been nestled in my brain for some twenty years, waiting patiently to be written, and, like a dormant seed suddenly given water and sunlight, it began to grow. And grow. And grow. It’s been incredibly exciting, but also a little terrifying as I tried to keep it at least marginally under my control! Here’s a whole new world and cast of characters, and it’s taken some time to learn all their secrets and trace the invisible lines of connection and potential—so much potential! I have a dread of rushing the process and missing something I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself for later. So it’s a really big relief to have some breathing room now to do that, and I’m so grateful to my amazing publishers for allowing me the time to nurture the story to its true and final form. I really can’t wait for you to read it. I love it so much, and I’m sorry for the additional months of waiting time but I’m certain that it will be worth it! I hope you agree!

Thanks Laini!

The new publication date has been moved to March 28, 2017.

#WNDB To Publish 2 Anthologies

FLYING LESSONS HIGH RES JPEGWe seem to hear a lot of mixed news from the world of We Need Diverse Books, an internet born organization that advocates for diversity in books and authors. This will be all good news, I’m happy to report, as they are publishing two books with Random House:

The middle-grade anthology titled FLYING LESSONS & OTHER STORIES is set to be published on January 3, 2017. The book will feature original stories by an award-winning lineup: Kwame Alexander, Soman Chainani, Matt de la Peña, Tim Federle, Grace Lin, Meg Medina, Tim Tingle, and Jacqueline Woodson. The collection will also include a story by debut author Kelly J. Baptist, winner of the WNDB short-story contest, and by Walter Dean Myers, the late and beloved award-winning children’s author.

“We are so pleased to be collaborating with the We Need Diverse Books team to bring these important stories by extraordinary author talents to readers everywhere, and to support our collective goals of promoting diversity in children’s literature,” says [VP of Crown Books] Phoebe Yeh.

“This anthology has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career,” says [author Ellen] Oh. “It is a dream come true to work with these amazing authors, and I know that these stories are going to resonate with so many readers.”

The young adult anthology, LIFT OFF, is scheduled for release in Summer 2018 and will be edited by Lamar Giles, author of the Edgar Award–nominated novelsFake ID and Endangered. Wonder Woman Will Be A Stamp

wonder_woman_stampsIt’s a banner day here at Cuddlebuggery, because I got in a story about The 100 AND my fave superhero, Wonder Woman! Let’s hear the deets:

She can fly, has superhuman strength and wields a pair of indestructible bracelets forged from Zeus’ shield. And now, she can carry your postage across the country for only 47 cents.

The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating the 75th anniversary of DC Comics’ iconic heroine Wonder Woman with a set of commemorative stamps, part of its non-denominational Forever series.

The stamps will debut at Comic Con in San Diego this weekend and feature four different images of Wonder Woman from her Gold Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age and Modern incarnations.

This isn’t Wonder Woman’s first “stamping ovation,” according to the Postal Service. She received panes in 2006 and 1988, alongside Batman, Superman, Supergirl and other luminaries of the DC universe.

This comes with perfect timing, because I need stamps!

YAAAAAAY!!! Wonder Woman stamps. I want a hundred. I’m not a stamp collector, but I will collect these ones!

The trailer for the WW movie is awesome. I admit, I was one of those people at first, because I grew up watching Lynda Carter as the kick-ass heroine, but I am excited about the movie. I’m also super excited about Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It seems as I’m going to become a couch potato soon. Can’t I get a job as a professional TV series viewer? That should be a job, a real, honest-to-god profession.

I’m not surprised that the Divergent movie isn’t doing so well… The trend with splitting the movies into two got old a long time ago. Made sense for Harry Potter, not so much for Divergent. Making it into a tv show though, now that makes even less sense in my opinion.

I have so much hope for WW. So much! And I’m so excited that people are taking her seriously. I freaking loved Lynda Carter’s version of WW (I own the first season, because it’s the best one) and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
As for Divergent, I’m with you on the splitting movies trend. Also, I never really got into this series, so I have no horse in this race, but it seemed like people liked it overall?
