Interview + Giveaway: A Major fan of Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

5 May, 2016 Giveaways, Interviews 48 comments

Why are you interviewing yourself about these two authors, Kat?

Well to put it simply:

tumblr_mugwvlrB9k1rdh9azo1_250

I can see that you’re not that easily distracted. CURSES! Well, to tell you the truth, I have a process when I blog. And sometimes that process boils down to wanting to love on something or someone. Also there was a THING and I was going to interview them but then I was like, NYAH. Who wants to hear what two amazing and totally awesome authors want to think?

What makes you qualified to call yourself a major fan of these two authors?

Okay, let’s put it this way. I’ve read pretty much everything these two authors have currently published. This includes but is not limited to:

Jay Kristoff’s work:

Stormdancer

Kinslayer

Endsinger

I even have the coveted Little Stormdancer kiddies book and the Buruu short story.

Amie Kaufman’s Work:

These Broken Stars

This Shattered World

And, okay, I haven’t finished Their Fractured Light yet, but I totally will and I’ll read the hell out of it.

Then, of course, we have Illuminae – my darling, my love, my – my PRECIOUS. Their shared baby, and it’s upcoming sibling, Gemina of which I am totally ready to fangirl over.

Illuminae was like getting repeatedly punched in the face and somehow enjoying every bit of it!

It’s so thrilling and wonderful and I never got over it. I love to go back and binge read this book every now and again.

But, seriously, why are you doing this?

Gah, so many questions. BECAUSE I FELT LIKE IT. I never do anything unless I feel like it and I just LOVE these guys so much. And, you know, long story, but I happen to have gotten my hands on two copies of Gemima to giveaway. HAH! Who’s making superfluous posts NOW?!

Okay, point taken. What makes these two authors so special to you?

You know, they’re both really special people and wonderful authors – that winning combination that makes them two of my favourite people ever. I’ve been a big fan of these two, both separately and forever, since my early blogging days. And just because I sit out their respective windows at night and listen to them breathe, doesn’t make my love for their work any less legitimate. Kristoff has an amazing flair about his writing. It’s breathtaking. And Amie always thrills me in all kinds of delicious ways with her stories.

Hang on, isn’t that a bit creepy?

If they didn’t like me sitting outside their windows then they’d call the police!

Whatever. Anything else you want to tell us?

As a matter of fact yes. So there’s a giveaway that we’re hosting and then I wanted to point your direction towards the BIG giveaway. The details for the big giveaway are in the graphic. Our giveaway is down below!

I wasn’t going to read Illuminae, ignores the hype, didn’t feel it was my thing. Then my little brother peer pressured me into it and 4 hours later I had cried and laughed and died, over and over again! I’m super excited to read Gemina and run the full gamut of emotions I know it will make me feel!!

Why do I want to win Gemina? Because I also love Amie and Jay’s work! And I would totally keep you company on their windowsills except Australia is so FAR. But really, I want more snarky space drama and creative murdering because if there’s one (or two things) Amie and Jay are good at, it’s murdering people in horrific yet inventive ways and writing about teenagers being sassy in space.

Illuminae completely blew away my expectations, so I can’t wait for Gemina. I read a library copy of Illuminae, but it would be amazing to own Gemina and actually be able look at what’s under the cover. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

I think I’m the only one who hasn’t read Illuminae. I know it’s on the top of my TBR list and I think if I won the sequel it would further encourage me to get off my butt and read this series. It sounds great and everyone seems to love it so much. Thank you for the interview and the chance.

Why do I want to win? Um, silly question! Who wouldn’t want it?! Illuminae was amazing, one of my fav books, the audio was the best. Of course I need a physical copy of Gemina for my new bookshelves (OK I don’t have said shelves yet, but will soon as my books are starting to take over my living room floor) and the first book to go on the shelves I don’t have yet will be Illuminae and Gemina!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

This is a great post! I am not sure I have ever been so excited for a book to come out, as I am for Gemina. I would seriously consider trading it for my first born child. I’d really like to avoid that though, so if I could win a copy here, that would be neat!

  23. Fabulous BLOGS To Follow | Sparkling Letters

[…] Meet my favorite book blog! Cuddlebuggery is run by  Steph Sinclair, Kat Kennedy and Meg Morley. They are my favorite book reviewers ever since I started following them on Goodreads. They write honest, hilarious, and absolutely spot-on reviews of books in the Young Adult genre. I don’t always agree with the reviews, but they are definitely worth thinking. Hence, I always make the time to check their reviews about books I’m planning to read. My favorite posts are when Steph was raving about Starcrossed, The Selection, and Illuminae. There is also that ridiculously fun post when she interviewed herself 😛 […]
