Giveaway: Black Iris by Leah Raeder

31 March, 2015 Blog Tours, Giveaways 32 comments

Hey guys, how’s your Tuesday? However it is, it’s about to get better because the lovely people over at Atria are giving away not one, but two copies of Black Iris by Leah Raeder.

Just so you know, I loved absolutely everything about this book. This is the lush, balls to the wall, don’t give a fuck, girl taking on the world revenge porn I’ve always wanted without actually realizing how badly I wanted it.

The writing is gorgeous, the character dynamics are incredible, the sex is hot and the mind fuckery is through the roof. I’m going to stop myself here because Steph and I will be discussing it in greater detail closer to release date but trust me when I say if you like dark, twisted vigilante stories with a notable shortage of good guys, you really want to read Black Iris.

18829666The next dark and sexy romantic suspense novel from the USA Todaybestselling author of Unteachable.
It only took one moment of weakness for Laney Keating’s world to fall apart. One stupid gesture for a hopeless crush. Then the rumors began. Slut, they called her. Queer. Psycho. Mentally ill, messed up, so messed up even her own mother decided she wasn’t worth sticking around for.

If Laney could erase that whole year, she would. College is her chance to start with a clean slate.

She’s not looking for new friends, but they find her: charming, handsome Armin, the only guy patient enough to work through her thorny defenses—and fiery, filterless Blythe, the bad girl and partner in crime who has thorns of her own.

But Laney knows nothing good ever lasts. When a ghost from her past resurfaces—the bully who broke her down completely—she decides it’s time to live up to her own legend. And Armin and Blythe are going to help.

Which was the plan all along.

Because the rumors are true. Every single one. And Laney is going to show them just how true.

She’s going to show them all.

Oh, my God, a giveaway for Black Iris! *tries not to hyperventilate and fails* I would drop a hint to our teacher that she didn’t hand in her phone. (My school used to make students hand in their phones every morning and every once in a while, there’d be a surprise bag inspection.) Because a teenager without her phone is NOTHING.

  2. Kaethe

I enjoy reading and watching revenge fantasies because I’m not capable of forming and maintaining a nemesis long enough to actually do anything.

  3. tonyalee

*whispers* giveaway info is about A Darker Shade of Magic…

In other news – I am EXCITED for this book. I love Leah’s writing so I know I am bound to love this. Plus – I love dark and twisted. 😀

  4. Lorraine

I can’t wait to read this book. I loved Unteachable and Raeder is one hell of an author.

For revenge, I’d tie my nemesis to a chair and forced them to watch their most embarrassing, humiliating moments on a loop for hours on end. Worst thing I can think of.

  5. Kate Copeseeley

My revenge: locking them in a room with the audiobook version of a really bad book playing over and over again.
I don’t usually enter giveaways, because I NEVER win them, but you’ve inspired me, Meg! Can’t wait to read the actual review. 🙂

Hmm, not sure how…. I really would love to read this. Thank you so much for the chance!

  7. Amanda

Hmmm, I think I would just want to make my nemesis feel as humiliated as I was by him.

  8. Adrianne

I’d probably go for the “best served cold” method and wait until their guard is down. Then engage in a systematic destruction of their mental state. Moving things in their house. Parking their car in different places. Messing with their tweetdeck settings. 😉

  9. Carl

Thanks for the chance to win Black Iris. As for the question “Living well is the best revenge.” George Herbert.

I’m dying to get my hands on this one! Dark twisty mind fuckery and Leah Raeder….now that sounds like my kinda party 😉
Hmmmm revenge on my nemisis, I’d evily plot out some awful ways to ruin their existence systematically, and then never really act it out because I’m, A) super lazy in real life, B) impossibly bound by my manners, and C) totally not a bad ass at all. I’ll just have to live all these great things vicariously through the kickass heroines in my favorite novels! Thanks for the chance ladies!

This is going to sound like the LAMEST answer, but I am seriously not creative enough to come up with revenge plans (not that some people don’t deserve it…). Jk I’m usually good on that front. No need to even plot a revenge plan. I’ll just let Laney do it for me, since she knows how to do it right.

Yasssss Revenge. Sooo many options…in this case I would chloroform my enemy after a night out….so they are drunk and not paying attn. Then wld drag them to my ‘chester’ van, get said enemy to a room and hit them with sodium pentothal in front of my live webcam. Then ask them to tell the audience all theirdirty secrets. And of course I will tape it so I can send the video out to prospective employers or significant others in the future. HA!
And now I cant wait to WIN this prize bcz my mental life is MADE of revenge porn lol! Irl I am a nerd who wld probably accidentally stab myself with the truth serum ha ha. Thanks!

Hmm… I’m a Scorpio and we’re a vindictive bunch. I spend years plotting my revenge, watching and stalking my nemesis’ each and every move. When he/she leasts expects it… I’ll spring my attack! He/she will never know what hit him/her!!!

Lol. I’m serious tho! Don’t ever betray or offend me! Otherwise, I’m very kind and loving 🙂

p.s. I love Unteachable (read it when it was first released as an indie book) and I’m dying to read Black Lies! I’m excited to read about the f/f/m relationships! Thanks for the giveaway!

Sorry! Typo error! All that talk about revenge made me think about lies and betrayal… haha! >.< I meant to say that I'm dying to read Black Iris!!!

I would take revenge slowly. Let years pass. Go for the surprised realization that, “Uh, no. I didn’t forgive you.” Then walk away and order a martini. LOL – I’m just kidding. I don’t think revenge serves a purpose for a true heart.

Leah Raeder is INCREDIBLE, and whether I win the giveaway or not I will definitely be owning everything she ever writes one way or another!

To get revenge? Legos on the floor. EVERYWHERE they go. Sometimes a ton of them, sometimes they’re hidden, and watch them get so paranoid that even when I run out of Legos to use they still look out for them!

  17. Haley

A giveaway for Black Iris?!?! AWESOME! I want to read it sooooo badly.
I’m not very creative with revenge plots. I think I’d just egg their car. Or steal their keys. Something uninspired like that. Lol 🙂

Well, I can’t enter this because I’m not in the US, but I can tell you this: my revenge would depend, of course, of the infraction. (For example, if someone stole my chocolate, my revenge would be EPIC. I’d be more lenient if, say, they decided to burn my house. PRORITIES, people.)
My standard revenge would go something like this: I’d torture them, long and hard. When they can’t stand the pain anymore, I’d wait until they throw up and drown them in their own vomit.

    Twitter:

Best revenge against my nemesis will be to keep a smile on my face. A nemesis usually try to make your life miserable. So if I show them that no matter what I’m still smiling, then to me that’s the best revenge!

  20. erinf1

definitely something untraceable back to me, but something karmic 🙂 thanks for sharing!

  21. Lisa

I would be like the invisible man, and do random trickery in their house. Nobody would know it was me. Hahah. Thanks for the chance 😉

  22. Kalani

I wouldn’t take revenge on my nemesis unless they did something really bad.
