Blog Tour: An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir + Giveaway

So, there’s this book coming out in April that you may have heard of called An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I was super lucky and got an ARC of it and because I am awesome at impulse control, maybe read it was earlier than I meant to. Whoops, bad me.

The bright side of me not being able to stop myself from doing anything is that I can officially tell you it definitely lives up to the hype. The beginning is a little slow and it took me awhile to warm up to the characters but the world-building and mythology are spectacular, the stakes are incredibly high, the brutality is real and followed through on in a way not often seen in YA. Also, the end is fucking epic. Let me put it like this: I’ve mentioned a few times that I’ve been in a pretty bad reading slump, the only thing I could force myself to finish for awhile were rereads of my favs and this book.

Anyway, the point of today’s post is not an in depth review of An Ember In The Ashes, that’ll come much closer to publication, but to get you guys excited for it. MTV did an eclusive interview with Sabaa Tahir where she tells you a little more about the book and who she’d ideally cast as the (incredibly terrifying) Commandant (oh, did I mention the movie’s already a go?) along with a sneak peak at the first chapter.

Set in a terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his freedom. It’s a story that’s literally burning to be told.

LAIA is a Scholar living under the iron-fisted rule of the Martial Empire. When her brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from execution.

ELIAS is the academy’s finest soldier— and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.

When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself.

AHHH I can’t wait to read this book, it sounds epic!! Ever since I heard it described as a Gladiator, ancient-Rome like world I’ve been dying for it. Glad you loved it so much 😀 And ROSAMUND PIKE! I haven’t seen Gone Girl but I can picture Jane Bennett being a frosty, terrifying dictator.

Ok, so I am super happy for the author and I am freaking ridiculously excited to get my hands on this book ( I have it preordered through Amazon) but I HATE the fact that it’s already got a deal to be made into a movie… I can’t really explain why, I just wish that the book had been released before the big deal about a movie adaption came about. Maybe it’s my selfish nature causing me to not want to share with the “movie fans”.
