Blogoversary Day 3: Guest Post by Author Kendare Blake

13 February, 2013 Giveaways, Guest Spotlight 125 comments

Kendare BlakeYou may all be familiar with Kendare Blake, author of horror novels, creator of the very huggable Anna Dressed in Blood. But what you may not know is the story of how we met. Long ago, when the earth was flat and before the Cuddlebuggery that you know of existed, Kendare and I met on twitter. In fact, she was one of the very first authors. And I remember thinking what sort of brave-souled author would dare follow me. Didn’t she know that I ate authors’ brains for breakfast and mummified their bodies with the pages from their own books?! But she’s been so awesome and there from the very first beginnings of Cuddlebuggery when no one was visiting the site but our moms.

When Cuddlebuggery was born, Kat and I started going on these wild author adventures and Kendare kinda saved me from Anna snatching out my innards. (Thanks again for that, by the way.) Not only that, but this fierce lady’s got a wicked sense of humor. Seriously, go lose a few hours of your life browsing her blog. Your abs will never be the same. So that’s why we were stoked (the kids still say that, right?) when she agreed to help us celebrate an entire year of Cuddlebuggery shenanigans by spreading rumors about us. Oh, Kendare. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

A Cuddlebuggery Roast Post

By Kendare Blake

Welcome to the roast of Stephanie Sinclair and Kat Kennedy. Only it’s not quite a roast, because roasts make fun of true things about someone and I’m just inventing enormous and malicious rumors about Kat and Steph in the hope that you will spread them all over the internets. There’s a tiny voice in my ear that sounds suspiciously like Neil Patrick Harris saying, “You shouldn’t call it a roast post then, you should call it a rumor post,” but “Rumor” doesn’t rhyme with “Post,” so shut the fuck up, Neil Patrick Harris. Here we go!

Stephanie Sinclair

Most of you know Stephanie Sinclair as the adorably snarky and clever, well-read reviewer and blogger at Cuddlebuggery. Sure, she’s fun. Sure, she’s nice. Sure, there’s nothing really wrong with her. But Stephanie Sinclair has a dark side. Because Stephanie Sinclair…

CAN’T READ!!! She’s a total fraud. Comes off all insightful and with attention to detail, but really she keeps a little old man in her basement and makes him read all the books aloud to her or she won’t give him his twice daily baked potato. She’s an exploiter of the elderly, people.

She also has severe personal boundary issues. Spend five minutes with her and you’re wearing her like a backpack.

Miyagi
This may or may not be an actual photo of me
Wearing Stephanie Sinclair like a backpack.
You decide.

Kat Kennedy

Kat Kennedy. Blogstress. Cover designer wizard. Reading machine. Wicked sense of humor. Innocent on the outside, but inside, there’s crazy you wouldn’t believe, because Kat Kennedy…

IS A DRUNK!!! We’re talking Boozy McBeerpants. It’s let’s meet up for drinks, and let’s meet up for lunch and drinks and let’s meet up for dinner and drinks, and let me make you a tunafish sandwich with a shot of vodka in it. She won’t even read a book unless you dip it in gin and tack an olive on the cover. (A handy tip for authors who need ARCs reviewed.)

Also, she is weirdly attached to a pillow with a picture of Alfonso Ribeiro on it.

carlton
That’s right. Carlton from The Fresh Prince.

She brings it everywhere. You might think that’s no big deal, but you won’t once you run into Kat and have to talk to it like it’s a real person. That pillow is REALLY pushy about what movie it wants to see.

To wrap-up, Kat and Steph are not to be trusted! And should be avoided in all social situations. Seriously. If I know they’re going to be somewhere, I don’t leave the house without a fake mustache, because they are both easily fooled by most basic disguises.

But despite all this, I want to wish a happy Blog Anniversary to these two crazies. And I invite blog followers to spread these rumors, and leave their own in the comments. Because I’m sure there’s a lot of nutty effen WHAT?!-type things that even I don’t know about Kat and Steph.

HAPPY BLOG ANNIVERSARY, CUDDLEBUGGERY!

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1)

Anna Dressed in Blood

Add to Goodreads
Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story…
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Girl of Nightmares

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

Add to Goodreads
It’s been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can’t move on.
His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they’re right, but in Cas’s eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.
Now he’s seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he’s asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong…these aren’t just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.
Cas doesn’t know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn’t deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it’s time for him to return the favor.

Antigoddess

Antigoddes by Kendare Blake

Old Gods never die…
Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.
Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.
These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.
Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.
Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.
The Goddess War is about to begin.

    I’m pretty sure the drunk bit isn’t a rumour, just saying (;
And I am INSANELY impatient for Antigoddess to be released. I really really really need a good mythology book and this seems to be THE ONE. I would honestly buy a copy even if I don’t win one.
And all rumours aside, you ladies have awesome author guest posts.

Oh Stephanie, I had no idea you chained a poor man. I would however love to meet the pillow. 😛
Thanks for the giveaway, I would pick Antigoddess! Can’t wait to read Kendare’s spin on the Greek mythology!

What a hilarious post!!! Genius!!! 😀 I’m not overly creative, so, erm, here goes nothing: Kat likes to walk around, asking strangers if they want to smell her feet, and Steph likes to shout “My precious!!!” every time she sees a squirrel grab a nut. (Or something like that. ;))
    Oh, and I’d LOVE a pre-order of Antigoddess!!! 😀

  6. ferdybookgeek

You gotta love Carlton! I also love Kendare Blake. I’m looking forward to Antigoddes.

I think I’d go with Girl of Nightmares since I don’t have that one yet. Loved Anna Dressed in Blood though.

  8. britishbooknerd

I’d love to win Anna Dressed In Blood, it looks fantastic and I have yet to be able to get my hands on a copy and read it. 🙂

  10. J

I’d be very excited to win Antigoddess! I’ve read and loved both Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares.

  11. cynicalsapphire

Another thing you might not know about Steph and Kat: they are actually the same person. They pretend to be cobloggers, but are actually just one person with multiple personalities. Also, they write Life in Publishing. Fun fact!

  12. Rebecca D

I’d like to win either Girl of Nightmares or Antigoddess. Thanks for hosting this giveaway, although I have heard you are actually gremlins or ducks or something sown together to become one being. Not sure how I feel about that.

  13. Angela

I’d love to win Girl of Nightmares or Antigoddess. I already bought Anna Dressed in Blood.(: Thank you so much!

  14. Mona6014

Hmm…it seems I need to stock up on fake mustaches. One can never have enough!
I’m really excited for Antigoddess. You guys should do another roast post on April Fool’s day too!

  15. RadiantShadowss

Girl of Nightmares fo sho! I loved Anna, but haven’t gotten around to reading her sequel yet.
I want to corroborate cynicalsapphire’s suggestion that Kat and Stephanie are the same person – they’re like, eerily in tune with each other. So it’s either that they’re the same person OR they’re siamese twins. Now that I know that I can don a moustache to follow them around incognito, their secrets are mine! Muahaha!

  16. Ina M

I’d choose Anna Dressed in Blood. I’ve heard so many good things about it that my inetrest is really piqued now ^_^ Many thanks for the wonderful giveaway, and once again, happy blogoversary!! ^_^

  17. _Sandra_

Since I’ve already read and own both books in Anna series, I would definitely choose Antigodess.
    Thanks for a giveaway! 🙂

  18. Tia

  20. kalabookblog

OOOO kendare blake!  I JUST read Girl of Nightmares and loved it!  I’m so glad I got Girl and Anna Dressed in Blood from the library so I could see those beautiful covers in person.  The only downside is not actually owning a copy.  YET!

  21. IrinaG

I’d love to get Antigoddess, although I have Anna in e-format, so having it in paperback with that gorgeous cover is tempting as well.

  22. gdkgents

I’d want Anna Dressed in Blood cause that’ll look real nice next to my Winnie the Pooh and The Little Prince.

  23. MaijaSteinbrika

I`d like to win the first book, since, again, I haven`t read it yet 😀 Thanks for this awesome opportunity to win it!
    Happy Blogaversary!

Kat is totally a drunk. And I heard she keeps her kids in a cage with a water bottle like a hamster!
Steph keeps her books in her kid’s closet. Oh wait. That’s not a rumor. My bad!
I’ll take Anti-Goddess, please! Happy blogoversary!!! MWAH!

  25. Rose

Antigoddess! I have a thing for Greek mythology (so much so that I’m taking a Uni class about it), though it’s rarely done well in YA fiction.

  26. PCravingBooks

Hi! I would love to have Anna Dressed in Blood! I want to read this series!!!! Thanks for the chance!

  27. demibeans

I’d love Antigoddess or Anna Dressed in Blood since I’ve heard nothing but good things about the series! It sounds absolutely fantastic 🙂

  28. adreamindream

Happy Blogoversary! I would definitely pick Antigoddess! I am so freaking excited for this book it’s not even funny. Plus I already have both of her other books! Thanks for another awesome giveaway! 🙂

  29. Neyra

I…. normally only spread rummors if I know for a fact they’re correct…. after a year of stal— I mean, reading Stephanie’s reviews on GR’s and Cuddlebuggery I’ve come to the conclusion that…..

SHE’S SECRETLY A DEVOTED EDWARD CULLEN AND BELLA SWAN FAN!!! Yes, yes it’s true!! I’ve been witness to the psychotic-obsessive adoration she has with the two. *sniffs* it’s frightening, really, to see the sparkle in her eyes when Edward… well… sparkles >.<

LOL HAPPY BLOGEVERSARY LADIES! AND GREAT, ERR.. ROAST KENDARE ! 😉

  34. ErleenAlvarez

I already have both hardcover of Anna series so I would probably have Anti-goddess. 🙂

  35. Inky

I haven’t read the Anna books yet (I know, shame on me) and I’m DYING too, so I’d have to say Anna Dressed in Blood!!! Thanks so much and a HAPPY blogoversary to you awesome peeps! 😀

    Xoxo, Inky

  36. katlb82

Oh man, choices.  I believe I’d have to go with Antigoddess.  But then, maybe a hard-cover of Girl of Nightmares to match my copy of Anna.  Confuzzled now!
