Blog Tour: Prodigy by Marie Lu and Giveaway

6 February, 2013 Blog Tours, Giveaways 55 comments

Today we are pleased to host a stop on the Prodigy blog tour, where you can check out an excerpt, Marie’s thoughts and other goodies! If you didn’t already know, Marie Lu completely blew me away with her sequel, turning me into a serious puddle of FEELS.  Prodigy hit stores Jan. 29th, so *psst* if you’re curious about this mysterious “bathtub scene” some of us have been whispering about, the wait is officially over. Spoiler: That was me enabling you. Or… you can enter for a chance to win one of two Prodigy ARCs at the end of this post!

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.

Excerpt

 PRODIGY Excerpt:

Now’s as good a time as any, I think. I reach up and pull my cap off, letting my white-blond hair tumble loose. One of the soldiers turns his head up fast enough to see me dart out of the window crevice and turn the corner from the second-floor ledge. “Did you see that?” someone shouts incredulously. “Was that Day?” As I jam my feet into the spaces of old bricks and pull myself up to the third floor, the soldiers’ tones go from confused to angry. – Day, page 197

Marie’s thoughts:

Day really has no intention of becoming some sort of symbol to the people, but his actions to protect his own family have far-reaching effects. With him (as well as with June), I wanted to make a point that our actions do not happen in a vacuum. Every decision we make—who we befriend, what we eat, what we do for a living, what we say, what we stand up for—creates ripples that affect and influence others, whether we intend it or not.

I read Legend and I loved it.  Day is such a fun unique character right down to his name.  And June is a really strong female lead character.  Can’t wait to read Prodigy!

Thank you for this giveaway. I read Legend in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. I thought Marie Lu did a great job of telling parts of the story from a boys perspective. I have been very excited for Prodigy to come out.

I read Legend in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. It’s similar to the Hunger Games and Divergent series, both of which I’m in love with, but totally different at the same time. Can’t wait to read Legend!

  13. GiaochauNguyen

Read Legend once for fun and again for school then I read Prodigy when it came out recently and OMG!!!!! THE ENDING!!! NEED THE NEXT BOOK! TT.TT
Stupid Day! Thanks for the giveaway

  14. deedeegriffin

I read Legend and LOVED it!  I was amazed at some of the emotions I was feeling while reading it.  It reminded me a little of Divergent, not that the stories are similar, but I guess it was the feel of the society and the characters’ struggles.
