About this list

Wherever possible, we have linked these books to GoodBook International, an online book site with free shipping, that donates all profits to Oxfam. Buying your books from GoodBooks.com is a great way to get competitively priced literature while giving to impoverished and desperate people. However, it may now be too late to have a book shipped to you before Christmas.  So, please consider purchasing your books from independent books stores.

Some of these books are contestable in their placement.  Stephanie almost had conniptions when she saw that Daughter of Smoke and Bone was placed in a list of Twilightesque books.  We’ve tried to consider the themes, similarities and structures of the novel and create a guide that easy for those not familiar with YA to understand.  What I’m saying is: go easy on us, guys!  Every book on this list has been read by either Stephanie or myself.  We vouch that they are quality literature, even if there are a couple that we didn’t personally like.

But most of all – Merry Christmas!

I’ve got Gone, Gone, Gone and Skylark out but I wasn’t really planning on reading them. I’ll def give them a go now. Great list, Kat. Happy holidays 🙂

I would have a conniption too, if I saw Daughter of Smoke and Bone anywhere near Twilight. And yes, I had to google what conniption meant. Nice list and happy holidays!

    This is very neat.
I opened my mouth wide (for the inappropriate exclamatory verbs to come out) when I too saw DoSaB with Twilight. I do contest that placement. You may contact my lawyer about this.
    I was kidding. Sort of.

Just wanted to let you know that because of this post my husband will be giving oxfam gift cards to his two employees this year for Xmas. Did not know about oxfam before and it’s awesome!

I feel like posting Ultraviolet in the sci-fi is a slight spoiler.
Should read “For teens who like Twilight, but want to read something better”. 😀
