Character Death Match!

Welcome to Cuddlebuggery’s Young Adult, All-Female, Paranormal Character Death Match!

It will probably look a lot like this:

And hopefully some of this:

You know, without that pesky rescuing thing.

But here’s the thing.  We need your help to pick our contestants!

Rules:

  1. Characters must be female and the main protagonist of their book.
  2. They must be exclusively from the Young Adult Paranormal genre.
  3. They must be from a book that either Kat or Stephanie have read for the purposes of getting characterization as close as possible.  All the possibilities of characters provided for polling meet this requirement.
  4. Characters will be from their first book incarnations and can only include character growth, abilities and personality traits achieved within the first novel of their series.
  5. The winner will be determined by a mixture of chance (dice throwing) and stats/abilities.  Ie. A character who rolls very highly but with low abilities might, somehow, defeat a character who rolls a very low score but has high stats.
  6. There will be three rounds and then the grand championship which will include a surprise setting.

Possible Contenders:

Dru Anderson – Strange Angels by Lilith SaintCrow

Vivian Gandillon – Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

Nora Grey – Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Ever Bloom – Evermore by Alyson Noel

Evie Green – Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

Rose Hathaway – Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Grace Brisbane – Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Karou – Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Helen Hamilton – Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Clarissa Fray – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Zoey Redbird – Marked by P.C Cast

Penryn Young – Angelfall by Susan Nee

Ashline Wilde – Wildefire by Karsten Knight

Anna Korlov – Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

Bella Swan – Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Clara Gardner – Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Lucinda Price – Fallen by Lauren Kate

Bethany Church – Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

If you notice, we have 18 contenders – but we only need twelve.  That’s where YOU come in!

Vote for the characters you MOST want to see in a death match!

You can vote for any twelve characters:

Obviously I’m slacking in the YA PNR dept. because I haven’t read half of these. Some because I’m avoiding them like the plague, but others, I’ve never heard of. Unearthly? Ashline? Hmm…

Looking forward to the resulting battles! 🙂

I voted for Bella so I can watch her die.
    Make it bloody.
    And greusome.

Clara has to win – she is awesome. Not to be confused with her opposite Clary.

  3. Shelley

What about Katsa from Graceling? She’d totally kick ass! Oh wait, you’re trying to narrow it down aren’t you. 🙂

I think we didn’t include her mainly because Graceling is more Fantasy than Paranormal Romance. But we do plan on doing another Character Death Match later that would include Dystopian and Fantasy heroines! I’d love to see Katsa kick some ass. 😉
